In 2007, Ellen Chin Brandshaug started as a Project Coordinator in a temporary position, based in the HR department at Tryg in Bergen. After one year in HR, she applied for another temporary position as an Executive Secretary before she became permanently employed in 2009. In 2013, she entered a new position as Strategic Planner at the head office in Ballerup, Denmark.
”I see Tryg as a workplace with many opportunities for developing into new directions and where you, your individual needs and desires are listened to. After some years in Denmark, I began to miss Bergen too much and I got the opportunity to move back. Today I am working in Bergen as Project Assistant with the programme ‘Claim 3.0’.
Motivated by varied tasks
Ellen has a very varied and flexible working day with different kind of tasks, which she appreciates very much.
“Today, I am working as a Project Assistant in a programme, which has the purpose of improving our Claims unit. It is the first time, I am working within the claims area. I find it very exciting – especially since the position is completely new. This means that I will be able to concentrate on those tasks that interests me the most. This position involves everything from planning and coordinating by meetings to providing communication packages and presentations, and this gives a very varied working day,” she says.
The corporation in the team is inspiring
Ellen gets motivated by delivering a product that adds value – both to costumers, the business or to colleagues.
“I find it motivating to be working in a team in which it is very inspiring to listen to others ideas and others’ feedback to my own ideas – This brings the creativity up in me. It is extremely giving to discuss and share opinions with other engaged and talented colleagues in order to acknowledge that my inputs are received before we jointly find a better solution, she says.
There are many opportunities
Ellen feels lucky that she has gotten the opportunity to work with many different areas both at the offices in Norway and Denmark. This is among other things because Tryg is a large Nordic company.
”At Tryg, there are options for working with many different business areas – From Finance to HR and from claims to sales departments – and with tasks that varies from macro-oriented strategic tasks to more specialised. I experience a great degree of flexibility and engagement from the managers I have had during my time and I have had the opportunity to try new tasks. I have also been developing on the site through courses as well as small and big projects I have been involved in,” she says and continues:
“Tryg is a very good workplace but it is also an organisation that faces changes, and I do believe that the changing environment are here to stay. The word and the market develop fast and this means that Tryg and its employees must be prepared to adjust the shifting working day – with the opportunities and challenges it brings.
