Our work with the
Sustainable Development Goals 

Tryg is committed to working with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe in playing a role in changing the world for the better and the SDGs is a helpful tool for setting clear strategic targets for our sustainability journey. We will continue to measure our impact, both positive as well as potentially negative, as we strive to improve our contribution to the SDGs.

SDGs

We have conducted an assessment of our impact on the 17 SDGs, which has informed the below matrix as well as our strategic work with the SDGs. The assessment shows that we have the highest impact on SDG 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, 16 and 17. We have set targets for SDG 5, 12 and 13, as we believe this is the areas, in which we can drive the biggest impact.

Matrix
Goal 3: Good health and well-being

Tryg contributes to SDG 3, Good health and well-being, specifically indicator 3.3 through our health app, Tryg sund, which consolidates the health of our customers in a single app and bring attention to our customers’ mental and physical health, while consulting customers on health issues. Our travel insurance product, which includes vaccination of the whole household actively creates peace of mind and prevent illness during our customers’ travels.

Goal 4: Quality education

Tryg contributes to SDG 4, Quality education, specifically indicator 4.3.1 and 4.4 by committing to strengthening education and knowledge about insurance for school-children through our partnership with Teach First Denmark and Mattip. In collaboration with Teach First Tryg welcomes children from Tingbjerg Skole twice a year, as interns for a week, at our head office in Denmark. Mattip is a free online portal for math teachers. Together, we help young people gain knowledge about the importance of insurance.

Goal 5: Gender equality

Tryg contributes to SDG 5, Gender Equality, specifically indicator 5.5.2 trough are commitment to increasing the number of women in management positions and our target of 41% women in management in 2023.

Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

Tryg contributes to SDG 8, Decent work and economic growth, specifically indicators 8.1 and 8.5 through our commitment to respecting and promoting human rights in our own business as well as in our value chain and our commitment to improving working conditions for our employees. We believe that our operations have a positive impact on the economies in the countries where we operate.

Goal 11: Sustainable cities & communities

Tryg contributes to SDG 11, Sustainable cities & communities, specifically target 11.5 and 11.b by advising our customers on climate solutions for their homes in order to make them more resilient to climate change, including storms, cloudbursts to prevent claims.

Goal 12: Responsible production & consumption

Tryg contributes to SDG 12, Responsible production and consumption, specifically indicators 12.2.1, 12.5.1 and 12.6 through our sustainable claims handling processes and our commitment to incorporating sustainability into our procurement processes and reducing waste production.

Goal 13: Climate action

Tryg contributes to SDG 13, Climate action, specifically indicator 13.1 and 13.3 through our commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2023 and our specific carbon emission reduction targets. We are committed to incorporating sustainability into our claims handling processes as well as our products and services.

Goal 16: Peace and justice

Tryg contributes to SDG 16, Peace and justice, specifically indicator 16.1.4 through our contribution to running the Nightravens and our commitment to preventing drownings through the Lifebuoy initiative in Norway. Our preventive initiatives contributes to creating peace of mind for our customers.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the goals

Tryg contributes to SDG 17, Partnerships for the goals, specifically indicator 17.17 through our partnership commitments, including our signatory membership of the UN Global Compact. We ensure collaboration for action across various initiatives, and we believe in partnering for impact.
